The Rock-N-Roll Cat Feeder was designed after the invention of livestock enrichment and foraging devices. These simple inventions, originally developed by livestock ranchers, are nothing more then a wooden barrel filled with livestock feed, with holes drilled around the sides. The barrel is either held, suspended in mid-air by a pole going through the circumference of the barrel, or freely rolled about on the ground by the animal.

The way a livestock enrichment and/or foraging devices works: When the barrel is rotated, kicked or pushed, a small amount of feed pores out from the drilled holes, into the feeder dish or on the ground. Now, in order to be fed, the the rancher's livestock must constantly rotate the wooden barrel. This significantly lowers food consumption with smaller portions of feed, and also increasing physical activity. This learned technique of pushing and kicking to obtain food actually mimics the natural instinct of foraging for food in the wild.

The same design can not only be found in farms but in all types of zoos today. Wherever there is a problem in obtaining enough exercise and playful diversion by activity, the enrichment and foraging device helps by increasing physical activity and reducing overfeeding.

The Rock-N-Roll Cat Feeder has taken this design into the homes of pet owners and pets. It is now a uniquely designed and patented new invention in the automatic cat feeder industry today.

The Rock-N-Roll Cat Feeder is both a sturdy cat feeder as well as a very useful cat toy combined all in one. It uses the natural instincts of a cat's search for food by stimulating the sense of sight, smell, and taste, teaching new skills. Your cat will be engaging in playful exercise while being thoroughly conditioned.

To refill the Rock-N-Roll Cat Feeder:

  1. Locate the removable cap on top of the food drum.
  2. Pour in the desired amount of dry cat food into the cylinder.
  3. Push the cap back towards the rear of the cylinder to close.

Using the cat's tail on the Rock-N-Roll Cat Feeder to adjust the rate of food dispensing.

The cat tail mechanism on the Rock-N-Roll Cat Feeder can be moved either up or down to increase/decrease the amount of dry cat food dispensed. This adjustment may take some time as each cat is different in their ability in learning to use the Rock-N-Roll Cat Feeder. One suggestion, start with the largest setting possible. As your cat becomes more acquainted with how to use the Rock-N-Roll Cat Feeder, start decreasing the hole setting. This will benefit your cat as less dry cat food is consumed. During feeding, your cat is now enjoying the positive effects of exercise.

Cleaning.

The food drum that houses the dry cat food may be removed completely from its base by unlocking it from the inside shaft and then removing by sliding it forward. The food drum can then be cleaned by turning it upside down and shaking to removing any small crumbs of dry cat food remaining. The inside of the food drum can be further washed with warm water and a clean sponge or cloth. The food tray of the cat feeder should be removed as necessary for cleaning as well.

Getting your cat to use the Rock-N-Roll Cat Feeder.

You may to wish to increase the difficulty of the Rock-N-Roll Cat Feeder if:

  1. Your cat is starting to eat more then he/she should.
  2. Your cat is more aggressive in his/her ability to extract dry cat food.
  3. Your cat spends more time at play with the cat feeder.
  4. Your at has learned to use the cat feeder efficiently enough to go on to a more challenging exercise.

Caution. Look for the general overall appearance of your cat to be more playful after using the Rock-N-Roll Cat Feeder. Increase the difficulty of the Rock-N-Roll Cat Feeder cat correspondingly. Do not increase the difficulty of your cat feeder so quickly as your cat seems bored, impatient or is not using it well.
